This Privacy Policy explains how AI Compare ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you visit our AI software comparison website (the "Service"). We are committed to handling your information transparently and only collecting what we genuinely need to operate and improve the Service.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information — when you sign in (for example as a contributor or administrator) we receive your email address and authentication identifier from our identity provider.
Submissions — if you submit a tool, subscribe to the newsletter or contact us, we collect the data you provide (name, email, message, tool details).
Usage data — anonymised analytics such as page views, search terms entered on the site, comparisons viewed and outbound link clicks. We do not attach this to your identity.
Technical data — IP address, browser type, device type and referring URL, used for security, debugging and aggregate analytics.

To operate, secure and improve the Service.
To respond to submissions and support requests.
To send newsletter emails if you have opted in (you can unsubscribe at any time).

3. Affiliate links and outbound clicks

Some outbound links to AI tools are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link we log the click (timestamp, the link clicked and a hashed referrer) so we can measure traffic and reconcile commission. We never sell this data and never tie it to your identity. Affiliate relationships never influence our editorial rankings.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

We use a minimal set of cookies and local storage entries that are required for the Service to function — for example to keep you signed in to the admin area and to remember UI preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

5. Legal bases (EEA/UK visitors)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on (a) our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Service, (b) your consent for newsletter emails, and (c) the performance of a contract when you create an account.

6. Sharing your information

We share information only with service providers that help us run the Service (hosting, database, authentication, analytics and email delivery) and only to the extent necessary. These providers act on our instructions and are bound by appropriate confidentiality obligations. We use industry-standard measures including encryption in transit, role-based access control and least-privilege database policies. No internet service is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect your data and respond quickly to any incident.

9. Your rights

10. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
